There are hundreds if not thousands of charities doing a tremendous amount of good. Just too many people are disadvantaged in one way or another and need help. Governments can't or just don't do enough.
That is why there are so many charities trying to help. Unfortunately
most of them are struggling, especially under the present economic circumstances.
But this does not have to be so.
Whenever there is a major disaster, TV and other media bring it to our attention
and fantastic amounts of money are collected. This proves that there are enough
good hearted souls who are willing and able to help.
Every now and then a documentary on TV or an article in one of the other media
draw our attention to ongoing hardships like Darfor, the problems in The Congo
and even our own, like the many old people here in this country who will not
be able to heat their homes during this coming winter. Most of them quickly
and easily forgotten or overtaken by other events.
But because we are being asked to donate over and over again,
we have developed a certain amount of reluctance to put our hands into out
pockets. Especially if we are not sure how much of our donation actually reaches
the people it is destined for.
Large organisations are able to solicit donations by advertising in the media,
but the many small ones have to rely on fundraising events with their friends
and family.
Using the Internet we can easily and at very little or no cost raise the awareness of a needy cause and spread the word far beyond our family and friends.
And more importantly with streaming media and the ability to upload video onto the net, we can now show in detail who needs what and better still how and how much of our donated money will directly benefit the cause.
This is why we have created Charity in Action.
A web site where selected charities and their causes are shown
to the public, where everyone can see what is required to improve the lifes
of the less fortunate and in particular what good the donations have done
or are doing.
The website collects funds for specified charities which are channeled 100%
directly to them. The cost for running the website are
derived from adverts shown on this site.
Donations made through PayPal are fully traceable and are accounted for in detail. Of course you can donate directly to the charity, but most of them do not have the facilities to receive donations via their web site, and that is why we provide a donation button on their behalf.
