BRIEF HISTORY

The Jacaranda Workshop was started in 1982 to provide training and employment to mentally handicapped adults graduating from the Jacaranda Special School. To date, the workshop has successfully managed to train and employ over 60 ex-jacaranda school graduates and assisted them to improve their self-esteem.

The workshop seeks to provide employment to those who may find it difficult to find employment elsewhere.

AIMS OF THE WORKSHOP.

1. Foster an enabling working environment for persons with mental handicap for their personal rehabilitation and employment.

2. Assist them to be self-reliant, improve their self –esteem and human worth and integrate them into society.

3. Enhance their capability and production skills

4. Encourage economic independence of the handicapped artisans.
